Graphic solutions in the heart of London
As one of the latest additions to London's ever-changing skyline, the Lexicon Tower in Islington is one of the most distinctive buildings in the area, rising 36 storeys into the sky. The developers were keen to include bold graphics and signage as part of their vision for the Tower, and we've been working with UK Hoarding to help turn their plans into reality.
We used a Sprit Flex Light Frame with PVC Tension Skin to produce the high-tensioned lightboxes which housed our bespoke built up illuminated letters, manufactured to a depth of just 50 mm, spelling out Lexicon. The Artworks team used over 1200 Ultra Bright LEDs on a photocell to illuminate the tower's name.
It proved to be a challenging project from both a structural engineering and practical perspective. The drawings and calculations had to be approved for wind load and structural strength.
The Artworks team came through with flying colours however, even in the face of the predictably testing London weather, boosting our reputation for creativity and technical excellence. Our bold and dynamic signage announces the arrival of another exciting new housing development right in the heart of our capital city, a real statement of ambition!
