Environmental, Social and Governance
We take great pride in what we do, so it only makes sense that we’re also proud of how we do it. With our teams, clients, community, and the environment in mind, we’re making constructive choices each and every day to ensure we’re always creating a positive impact. From donating waste materials to using sustainable energy sources, we consciously look for ways to better ourselves, the people around us, and the work we produce.
Environmental
Our goal as ARTWORKS is to create beautiful and functional environments, which is why we feel so passionately about protecting the environment in general. Company wide, we make sure our choices always align with a positive impact. From the bigger things, like having one of our Fabrication units entirely solar powered (with excess power returned to the grid), to only using FSC certified wood, which ensures sustainable and responsible sourcing, we know that every detail matters.
Here’s some of the many ways we’re actively making a difference:

Social
We like working with a wide range of people, cultures, and communities every day, and we also try to support that same diversity through charities and important causes whenever we can. From taking part in charity hikes to Christmas themed events in schools, we’re no stranger to a charity fundraiser!
Since 2008, our charity of choice has been Bristol-based youth support group, Empire Fighting Chance. This incredible charity supports young people affected by poverty and/or inequality, combining boxing and psychology, which is delivered by coaches and therapists that young people can trust, in a place where they feel safe, cared for and understood. Over the years, we’ve been part of some challenging hikes, including the Cotswold Way 53km, as well as hosting our very own ALTO acoustic art auction, raising vital funds for Empire. We also helped them to refurb their entire new annex, by donating custom branded graphics and acoustic items.
We’re also creative with some of our other charitable donations – Seasonally, we work alongside Morgan Lovell and local schools / organisations to bring themed flat-pack characters, made from ALTO waste and offcuts, for primary school children to assemble and learn about the importance of recycling and protecting the environment. We also donate other waste items to local art initiatives, like Children’s Scrapstore.
We’ve also sponsored a number of events and sporting personalities, from Charity football matches, to Bristol Bears’ Steven Luatua.

Governance
In 2023, we took the step to transition the business into an Employee Owned Trust.
Becoming an EOT means everyone at ARTWORKS has a genuine stake in where the company is heading. It also creates space for people to share their ideas, perspectives, and input on how we grow. Regular meetings and monthly internal newsletters provide clarity, transparency and honesty about all things finances and leadership.
We’ve always recognised the strength and experience within the team, many of whom have been with ARTWORKS for years. Moving to an EOT gives everyone the opportunity to take on greater responsibility and share in the financial success of the business.
