Bristol University
Having developed the scheme with Wylde IA, acoustic finishes were key in these social spaces. The challenge was rolling this out over 20 very different sites during the summer period, with such a variety of surfaces and substrates.
Fabric walling
We opted for our NovaWall fabric-walling track, installing hundreds of metres using ‘Camira’ fabrics that linked in with the furniture finishes. Images of University landmarks were used alongside drywipe boards to create functional spaces. Social space ceilings were treated with Class A acoustic rafts, installed randomly to subdue M&E.
Acoustic ALTO waffle
Large, colourful digital wallpaper printed in single pieces created a seamless finish and reduced installation time. Lounge ceilings were structured with acoustic ALTO waffle and circular rafts that we banked up onto a variety of sheet colours to create a mix and match effect.
Installations
From the end of July through to early September we surveyed, manufactured and installed these works ready for the students to return! The scheme was well-received, on time and within budget. Working closely with Wylde IA showcases our diverse range of capabilities, supported by our experienced PM’s and designers, unique in-house production and our multi-disciplined install teams.
Working through the initial marked-up plans with the designer, this project seemed relatively straight forward. In reality this was a real task to deliver. The sites varied hugely, with buildings dating back to the 1800’s right through to present day. We were working behind other contractors too, so timing was key. During site surveys we were always thinking on our feet, working closely with the designers to overcome constraints and relay back to our team to produce for install within just a few days. We had great satisfaction delivering a scheme in a short period of time and all the positive feedback made it even more worthwhile. This project kept us on our toes over the summer months!
